Boyd Angels Serve Special Purpose
As the demographics of our collectors shift to a younger generation, we enjoy hearing about unique ways to use Boyd Glass. Although we take pride in making collectibles, many people around the world are finding ways to showcase our glass while using various items. We welcome your stories and want to share a very poignant way one Indiana family uses Boyd Glass.
Grandparents from Goshen, Indiana, visited the factory recently and they shared their story with us. Night terrors are frightening for all of us; however, when a child suffers from recurrent scares, it poses a real challenge for parents and family members who host the child for overnights. The grandparents purchased several Boyd Glass angels and gave them to their granddaughter. They explained to her that God's angels watch over her at night and prevent anything from happening to her as she sleeps. At bedtime, the angels take their assigned places on the child's headboard. Deliberately, she touches each one before she crawls under the covers. Ever since this ritual began, the lovely little angel has not experienced a night terror since. In this case, the angel plays the same role as the popular Ojibwe dreamcatcher does.
We are still making Cobalt glass. Vacations, injuries, doctor’s appointments, and the sudden heat wave may have slowed us down a bit. But we have the tortoise mentality in the Aesop fable and believe that slow and steady is the way to go.
Barbara Newton has several new items for us this month. She has painted in Cobalt Satin a Duck Salt with white flowers, a Scottie Salt with red flowers, and a Turkey Salt with pink flowers. She also painted two Chick Salts – a Cobalt Satin with red flowers and a Siesta Satin with white flowers. All of these special covered Salts sell for $15.00. She also painted a Bingo deer in Sunshine Satin with pink flowers for $16.00 and a Brian bunny in Cider Satin with pink flowers that sells for $15.00
On our website, we have added a new category, Old Boyd. It is located under the Specialty category. We sometimes have old one-of-a-kind items and this is a good place to put them. For example, we have a couple test pieces on there right now that were not issued. We also have an old swan mould shown in a mould that we no longer have.
We will continue offering free shipping on orders over $50. This is offer is for US orders only and is also good for those who call us and do not like to order off the internet.
